Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the Mind
is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

We, at Swansboro Elementary School, are so proud to be a part of this program. Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and parents work together to coach teams of up to seven students each. Each year, we coach teams to represent SBES.  Kids who are creative thinkers, problem-solvers, love to act and perform, write and build would be a great fit for this team. Please look for information in the fall about trying out. These teams practice for a minimum of two hours a week and compete in regional, state and world levels beginning in March of each year.
